Maldives to Experience Adverse Weather Over Next Three Days Due to Strengthened Southwest Monsoon

The National Meteorological Service has announced that the Maldives will face adverse weather conditions over the next three days, as the southwest monsoon in the region is expected to strengthen. Starting tomorrow and continuing until Tuesday, various parts of the country are likely to experience rain, with some areas potentially facing heavy downpours accompanied by thunder.
The Met Office warned that the central and northern atolls, in particular, could witness strong winds and rough seas. As a result, the agency has urged residents and relevant authorities to remain vigilant and stay updated with the latest weather information.
The southwest monsoon, which typically occurs from May to November, began in the southern atolls on the seventh of this month. In contrast, the northeast monsoon usually takes place from January to March.
The Met Office stressed the importance of taking necessary precautions, especially for those at sea or in areas prone to flooding. Residents are advised to follow weather updates and heed safety warnings during this period.
