Criminal Court has dismissed a case after authorities failed to clarify the whereabouts of the defendant and present him to court.
The defendant – Mohamed Rasheed (M. Haveery Night, Male’) – is charged with disobedience.
Criminal Court said that it had ordered for Mohamed Rasheed to be presented to court under police supervision on May 8 and July 4 – but that police said they had been unable to find out his current whereabouts.
The Court said that it had requested with Prosecutor General’s Office to clarify his current whereabouts on July 4, and had not been able to clarify the matter within the allocated 15-days.
The Court said that it will carry out court proceedings after authorities locate the man, and re-file the case.
