Deputy Leader of Jumhooree Party Abdullah Riyaz has called the government to enforce the same laws on all citizens of Maldives.
Abdullah Riyaz said that there is no difference in the arrest of Judge Abdullah Muhammad and the arrest of Qasim Ibrahim. Riyaz said that since the required legal procedures were not followed when arrested Qasim, the arrest is unlawful.
In addition, he said that arresting him unlawfully can be considered as kidnapping. He said that there will be a day when this will be investigated and that there will be a day when everyone will be held accountable.
Riyaz said that the institutions which called for the release of Judge Abdullah Muhammad should do the same in Qasim’s case and if they are not capable enough to do that they should resign.
