China ambassador pays farewell call on Maldives pres

China ambassador to Maldives Wang Fukang on Thursday paid his farewell call on president Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
President's office said during the call, president Yameen expressed sincere gratitude for the generous assistance and the continued support rendered by the ambassador as well as the Chinese government for the socio-economic development of Maldives.
The President also conveyed his confidence in working closely with the Chinese government to strengthen the excellent relations with greater collaboration between the two countries.
Highlighting the contributions of China to the development of Maldives, the president noted with appreciation, the major developmental projects that are currently underway.
"The President also thanked the instrumental role played by the Ambassador for the success of these projects and expressed hopes to receive the same level of support and cooperation from his successor," the statement read.
Fukang expressed the honour and privilege to serve as the Ambassador of China to Maldives, and thanked the president and the Maldives government for the excellent support and cooperation extended during his tenure.
The Ambassador also took confidence in the Maldives government for its determination to further enhance the close collaboration between the two countries in both bilateral and international foras.
