The administration has decided to provide return expenses for Maldivians in China.
Making the announcement on Twitter, Minister of Foreign affairs Abdulla Shahid called on all Maldivians wishing to return back to contact the Embassy of Maldives in China. In the tweet, the minister revealed free return will be provided from the 5 destinations national airline, Maldivian, flies to, which are ChongQing, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Nanjing and Xian.
Since the first day of the coronavirus outbreak, the administration has monitored the situation of Maldivians in China and provided necessary assistance. According to information from embassy in Beijing, a total of 72 Maldivians are currently in different parts of China, including 9 Maldivians in Wuhan City which is the epicenter of the novel coronavirus.
