Adaalath Party leader calls out not to create commotion during today’s demonstration

President of Adaalath Party، Sheikh Imran Abdulla urges not to provoke violence and commotion during today’s demonstrations under the freedom of expression and freedom of demonstrations every individual is privileged with.
He made the statements directing at today’s scheduled protests against government to “uphold and protect Maldivian Constitution” by Maldives Democratic Party and Jumhooree Party. They are also holding the event calling for immediate release of their leader Mohamed Nasheed as well as former Defence Minister Colonel (retired) Mohamed Nazim.
“While they are utilizing their freedom of expression and demonstration، no room for conflicts and violence should be given” Imran stated.
He had also noted that citizens who are coming from Atolls or even from abroad to take part in the event cannot be prosecuted outside the legal framework.
Amid the demonstration closing in and statements from various political figures، Maldives Police Service has guaranteed that necessary steps will be taken against any individual or individuals coming from atolls if they resort to misconduct at any level.
“Those who are coming from Atolls to take part in the demonstrations، and to tarnish the peace and tranquil in Male’ will be subjected to strong disciplinary action” press release by security forces said.
