The statement made by Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) – claiming that there is a conspiracy ongoing to murder Nasheed، who is jailed for proven terrorism charges- has been denied by the Police.
In a news conference held yesterday by MDP، Imthiyaz Fahmy، the former Vice President of MDP claimed that Nasheed’s murder is being plotted while he is in jail and the necessary protection of him is not provided.
However، Supritendent of Police Hamdhoon Rasheed has denied the above statement and said that such issue is not occuring and it was a ‘lie’.
He further stated Nasheed’s protection is assured.
“Yesterday’s news conference by MDP claimed that there is an ongoing conspiracy against Nasheed to harm him and he is detained in Dhoonidhoo without the necessary protection، which are lies.”
The officer has also denied the statement made by MDP that only one officer is guarding Nasheed.
He has assured that “Nasheed is safe and sound in Dhoonidhoo”.
Hamdhoon has urged to stop discussions to defame the police.
