Minivan News Editor Zaheena Rasheed has stated that there were many suspects in the disappearance of journalist Rilwan.
Speaking Raajje TV’s “Falasuruhee” program, Zaheena said that only the State can investigate the matter.
She said that it was difficult to trust the Police regarding Rilwan’s disappearance, as they had failed to publicize the details of their investigation.
Zaheena said that she hoped such incidents did not occur in the future. However, given the lack of progress in the investigation and no information on Rilwan’s disappearance, she said that the likelihood of such incidents occurring was extremely high.
Zaheena added that there were rumors that former Vice President was implicit in Rilwan’s disappearance but added that these rumors only sprang up after disagreements between President Yameen and Adeeb came to forefront. Therefore, Zaheena said that the entire case was mired in confusion.
Police had not revealed any information on their investigation into Rilwan’s disappearance.
Zaheena noted that those who are enquiring on the whereabouts of Rilwan had faced death threats and warnings, citing that this was deeply concerning.
She said that many politicians had reported various accounts on Rilwan and that his family had met with those politicians. However, Zaheena said that these accounts had not amounted to much.
Zaheena remarked that Home Minister Umar Naseer had pledged to find Rilwan, but had failed to follow his pledge. She said that they had written many letters to the relevant authorities and the President and will continue to do so.
Rilwan, a popular journalist and blogger, has been missing for over 500 days.
