Fisheries and Agriculture Minister Dr. Mohamed Shainee has said that even though mega projects were aimed at densely populated areas, at the end of this five years, all islands will be developed.
Speaking about the budget for next year, Dr. Shainee said that most of the mega projects were centered on densely populated areas, so as to serve a large number of people in one go. However, he stressed that smaller populations were not neglected. Dr. Shainee assured that all islands will be developed in this five year term.
Dr. Shainee said that the Government did not enforce a policy of compulsory migration to developed areas.
He added that the Government was developing Hulhumale’ second phase, with all facilities and resources, as an incentive for smaller populations to move to that area and reap the benefits.
