State representative in the all-Party talks and Fisheries Minister Dr. Mohamed Shainee has revealed the all-Party talks will begin on July 18.
Speaking to Miadhu, Dr. Shainee today said the UN representative for the talks will arrive on July 18, adding the Government was fully backing the talks.
Dr. Shainee said the UN representative had in the past carried out discussions with state and opposition parties. He said the Government was willing to engage in talks, adding that they hoped the discussions will be successfully carried out, successfully.
Dr. Shainee also stressed the Government will give as much leniency as possible, within the means set in the Constitution.
Opposition figures have stated that Maldives United Opposition (MUO) will represent the opposition in the talks.
