Fugitives Escape: Police suspects of a Security Breach; Escape case being investigated

The escape of two convicts of First Degree Murder Shahum Adam & Fariyash Ahmed  from Maafushi Prison might be connected to a ‘Security Breach’، says Police.
Speaking during a press conference held at Ikandhar Koshi on Thursday to brief regarding the operation conducted by Police to arrest the fugitives، Central Command’s Head Superintendent of Police Ismail Naveen said the fugitives escaped the Prison after ‘sawing’ several obstacles between them and their ‘way out’.
He said that a fugitive to escape the Prison after sawing several places and coming to Male’ can only be achieved through a ‘Security Breach’.
He said Police are currently investigating the case and trying to find out the intentions of the fugitives coming to Male’ City.
“You all know that the two fugitives who escaped are dangerous criminals. So we don’t suspect of what they ‘might’ do. They would only escape the Prison to commit a major crime.” Naveen said.
He further said Maldives Correctional Service are ‘fixing’ the faulty areas in the Maafushi Prison.
He said Shahum and Fariyash escaped the Prison after several days of careful planning. Naveen said Fariyash attempted to mask himself by pretending to be someone else and told the Police of someone else’s personality. He said Fariyash ‘learned’ a lot about someone else’s personality.
Naveen said، all the evidence from the investigations so far points to that this was not a spontaneous attempt، but a well planned and organized escape.
