The opposition, Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) held a march on Saturday evening calling for President Mohamed Muizzu’s resignation.
The march began at the Artificial Beach area at 8:30 pm, proceeding along Boduthakurufaanu Magu and Ameenee Magu. A large number of participants took part in the march, but the event remained peaceful. Since the MDP had obtained prior permission from security forces, neither the police nor the army intervened. However, the police restricted access to roads other than the designated areas.
During the demonstration, protestants expressed their dissatisfaction with the government and called on the government to stop angering the people. If the government does not act on the criticism and take adequate action, the opposition will overthrow the government, they threatened.
