Independence Day Celebrations to Inspire Future Generations: Minister Adam Naseer

Minister of Language and Culture Adam Naseer Ibrahim has emphasized the importance of celebrating Maldives’ Independence Day on a grand scale to instill the true meaning of independence in the younger generation.
Speaking on TVM’s Raajje Miadhu program last night, Naseer said Maldivians became an independent nation because of their mindset, hope, and courage. He stressed that the 60th anniversary celebrations will serve as a reminder of these values and honor the contributions of those who have served the country.
“The Independence Day ceremony is a very special occasion for remembrance. It highlights the importance of independence, recognizes those who serve the state, and retells the experiences of Maldivians. This inspires us to remain steadfast as a nation. That is why it must be held grandly with participation from all,” Naseer said.
The government has planned an extensive program of events for the milestone celebration, including the official Independence Day ceremony, flag hoisting, and a special live-athon. The National Defense Force and National Cadet Corps will hold festivities and sports events, while schools will contribute with sports and cultural displays. A flotilla parade is also scheduled to take place on the main roads of Malé and Hulhumalé.
These efforts aim to unite the nation in commemorating six decades of independence while inspiring future generations to cherish and safeguard this hard-won freedom.
