For the first time in the Maldives, the inauguration of a gym within a hospital opened doors for individuals grappling with a spectrum of injuries and illnesses, facilitating the necessary medical care. A year since its establishment, the Wellness Club Gym at ADK Hospital, operating through a management partnership with 'Heat' Health and Fitness, has significantly contributed to overcoming various health challenges.
As it marks its one-year anniversary this month, the gym reflects on a year filled with satisfaction and success, having successfully delivered services that cater to the needs of many, thereby fostering growth in the sector.
In recent years, the gym has played a crucial role in alleviating the stigma associated with rehabilitation, particularly for those benefiting from training conducted by foreign educators. The gym has expanded its services to offer comprehensive treatment to athletes experiencing injuries, enabling them to recover and resume their careers in various sports fields within the country. Among the gym's achievements is the collaboration with ADK Hospital, providing treatment, sports rehabilitation, and performance-enhancing training, allowing nationally recognized athletes to make a triumphant return to their respective fields.

Shifana Wajeeh, the Managing Director of The Wellness Club, expressed, "Over the past year, ADK and the gym's approach to injury relief has gained the trust of numerous sports associations.
"We offer essential rehabilitation for athletes across various sports, and one of our significant accomplishments in the past year has been assisting athletes whose careers had faced setbacks in returning to the requisite level to resume their professional journeys," Shifana noted.
She also highlighted the positive reception of the programs implemented at the gym to enhance strength and stamina in sports.
"For individuals possessing skills but lacking the required physical fitness, we have provided the necessary training. The program also focuses on performance enhancement, extending beyond the rehabilitation phase," she added.
Shifana mentioned that, in addition to addressing sports injuries, The Wellness Club provides rehabilitation services for individuals recovering from accidents and various health conditions, including physiotherapy. Over the past year, many such individuals have received comprehensive fitness support, enabling them to return to normalcy and lead active lives seamlessly.
The Wellness Club extends beyond being solely a rehabilitation gym. It boasts trainers catering to those seeking general fitness, individuals aiming to maintain a specific physique, and certified trainers specializing in various areas, including strength training for both men and women. Personalized training sessions, coupled with tailored meal plans, are offered to clients, ensuring a focused approach toward achieving their desired fitness goals.
The gym provides specialized programs for children, tailoring fitness routines to align with their age-specific well-being requirements.
In addition to its dedicated workout space, The Wellness Club features a spacious studio exclusively designed for group classes. The studio hosts various 'Les Mills' classes, renowned globally for fitness, and conducts lively Zumba sessions. A significant accomplishment for the gym is the uninterrupted 21-year run of these classes, dating back to the days of 'Heat.'
The Wellness Club team is gearing up to introduce innovative programs in the coming year, aiming to contribute to a healthier lifestyle. Shifana mentioned the upcoming launch of programs focused on mental health. The gym has outlined initiatives dedicated to addressing non-communicable diseases like diabetes and high cholesterol levels. These programs aim to raise awareness about common health issues and promote overall well-being.
Last year, The Wellness Club made an impact by providing health and support to individuals of all ages, nurturing a commitment towards leading healthier lives.
