Maldives Police Service said they are investigating the case of discovering concealed weapons at Usfasgandu and near Dharubaaruge.
According a press statement published on their website، Police said they found concealed weapons at Usfasgandu and at south eastern corner of Dharubaaruge، on Friday.
Police further said they confiscated a dagger، three butcher knives and metal bars near Dharubaaruge، and more metal bars and butcher knives at Usfasgandu.
The opposition’s huge rally، in the name of ‘upholding the Constitution’، was kicked off from Usfasgandu area at around 16:00 on Friday evening، reportedly at the time authorities discovered the weapons.
However، Police media official today said they cannot associate the opposition rally with the weapons discovered، and also as the case is currently under investigation.
The official further said the discovered alcohol bottle near Islamic Bank on Friday night، too، cannot be associated with the opposition’s demonstration which continued.
