Chinese Ambassador to Maldives His Excellency Zhang Lizhong have said that China will continue to provide support to the social-economic development of the Maldives.
Speaking at the ceremony held to mark the 69th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the ambassador assured that the government of china will continue to provide support to the social-economic development of the Maldives to the best of their capability. The Chinese Ambassador highlighted the close relations enjoyed by China and Maldives.
The Chinese ambassador said that since Maldives established diplomatic relations with China in 1972, the relation between the two countries have been growing stronger. He noted that China assists Maldives in various sectors.
He further said that since the historic visit of Chinese President Xi Jing Ping to Maldives in 2014, the relation between the two nations have been growing stronger day by day. He said that Maldives took part in the 21st Century silk road project of China and the belt and road initiative of China and that Maldives has started benefitting from these projects even now.
In addition, the ambassador said that the relation between the two nation is at a new stage and noted that Maldives is rapidly developing in social and economic aspects. The ambassador also stated that in the past 8 years, the greatest number of tourists to the Maldives was from China.
In recent, times Maldives got the most amount of assistance in social and infrastructure development from China.
The ambassador spoke about the achievements of China in the international arena and briefly highlighted the history of China and the work done by the Chinese people to reach where they are today.
The chief guest of last night’s ceremony was Foreign Minister Dr.Mohammed Asim. In his speech at the ceremony, he said that the relation between the two nation is exemplary and thanked China for their assistance.
