Former President Mohamed Nasheed has visited the islands of K. Kaashidhoo and Gaafaru today.
Nasheed received a warm welcome from supporters of MDP upon arrival in Gaafaru this afternoon.
He walked on the streets of Gaafaru, met and talked with the people of the island. He then addressed MDP supporters and said that he will not disappear from politics in the near future, and hopes to attain success in this regard. He also said that his resignation was forced, and that an early election will be held before the end of the year.
At sunset Nasheed travelled to Kaashidhoo, where he was again welcomed by supporters and well-wishers.
A meeting of MDP is scheduled in Kaashidhoo tonight.
Nasheed is also planned to travel to N. Maafaru tomorrow morning.
