President concludes official visit to China, strengthening bilateral ties and multilateral cooperation

His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has returned to Malé after completing his official visit to the People’s Republic of China, undertaken at the invitation of His Excellency President Xi Jinping.
During the visit, the President attended the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit, where he joined other Heads of State and Government for high-level discussions at the "SCO Plus" meeting.
He also held a productive meeting with President Xi Jinping, in which both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation and advancing mutual interests.
On the sidelines of the summit, President Dr Muizzu engaged in bilateral meetings with other world leaders to enhance diplomatic ties and explore opportunities for collaboration.
Furthermore, key agreements and Memoranda of Understanding were signed between the Maldives and China across priority sectors, aimed at accelerating national development goals.
The President also attended the Commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People in the Second World War, held alongside other global leaders.
This is President Dr Muizzu’s second visit to China since assuming office in November 2023, further strengthening the historic friendship between the two countries.
