In preparation for the upcoming month of Ramadan, the government last night commenced distribution of tuna can cases to residents of the Male' area. Long queues were observed at distribution centres.
Distribution commenced at 8pm last night, even at which time people had joined queues at the centres.

Each household is being issued a 48 tuna can case, after checking electricity meter numbers. The initiative will see tuna can cases distributed to about 80,000 households in Maldives.

Today, it being Friday, there will be no distribution of cases. However, it will recommence from Saturday onwards.
Saturday's timings are 10am to 4pm, and again from 8.30pm to 11.30pm.
Sunday to Thursday, distribution will be from 2.30pm to 6pm and again from 8.30pm to 11pm.
STO said that further announcements will be made if additional distribution centres are determined.
Across the atolls, distribution of tuna can cases are conducted by respective island councils.
