The Ministry of Defense has alerted the public to an ongoing armed military training exercise being conducted at sea, 7 nautical miles east of Hulhumale’, from April 20 to 24.
The drills are scheduled daily from 06:00 to 17:30 and involve live ammunition. Projectiles are expected to travel up to 5,000 meters with a maximum altitude of 300 meters, according to a ministry statement.
Despite the nature of the exercise, no travel restrictions have been imposed in the surrounding area.
This marks the second round of military exercises in the Greater Malé area this month. A previous drill took place from April 13 to 17 across Malé, Vilimalé, Hulhumalé Phases 1–3, and Farukolhufushi.
