Kulhudhuffushi MP Mohamed Nasheed has endorsed presidential candidate of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) Abdulla Yameen.
Speaking on DhiTV, Nasheed said that he decided to endorse Yameen because he has worked with Yameen in the past, and because he knows Yameen well.
Nasheed has also confirmed his decision to endorse Yameen to Sun Online.
Nasheed said that one reason behind this endorsement is that the country’s experience with presidential candidate of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) Nasheed as president has not been positive; and that Yameen, as a new president, can solve the challenges currently faced by the country.
Nasheed also urged Yameen, if elected, to uphold and sustain democracy in the Maldives, and to work towards reforming the judiciary.
Nasheed said that the Maldives currently faces serious challenges, and that out of the two remaining candidates in the presidential race, Yameen is the one more capable of solving these problems; and that he hopes that Yameen, if elected, would work towards solving these problems.
Nasheed said that everyone must work together to solve the economic, social, and youth-related problems faced by the country, and that he hopes that Yameen would work with the people for the betterment of the country.
