Deputy Minister at the Islamic Affairs, Dr. Aishath Muneeza has said that the ministry will be distributin more than MVR 20 million as Zakat this year from the amount received as Zakat.
Dr. Muneeza made this remark in a press conference held yesterday. She said that about 37889 people registered for Zakat from the atolls.
She said that in addition to the MVR 15 million to the islands MVR 5.3 million will be distributed as Zakat in Male’.
The Deputy Minister said that more than 50,000 people registered for Zakat from Male’ City and \islands.
In addition to this, Dr. Muneeza said that the Darul Iman building will be opened within the month of September under the Waqf Fund.
She also said that about 1414 people will be going to Umrah from the Hajj corporation and private groups within the last ten days of Ramadan.
