President Abdulla Yameen and the new Italian Ambassador to Maldives Paolo Andrea Bartorelli noted the importance of all the countries taking a stand and fighting together to combat against the issue of global terrorism.
The remarks were made at the meeting held at the President’s Office this morning، after the new Ambassador of Italy accredited to the Maldives presented his credentials to President.
At the ceremony held at the President’s Office to present the credentials، President Yameen congratulated Ambassador Bartorelli on the commencement of his term.
Meeting the new Ambassador afterwards، the President and the Italian Ambassador held discussions on global issues of mutual interest، such as human rights and environmental problems. The President and the Ambassador also spoke on ways to tackle the challenges being faced in these areas.
The Italian Ambassador expressed deep concern over the blast on the presidential speedboat on September 28th، which led to the First Lady and others suffering injuries. He wished for the speedy and full recovery of the First Lady.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs، Dunya Maumoon، Minister at the President’s Office، Mohamed Hussain Shareef.
