Adhaalath Party and Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) have been fined MVR 5,000 by the Elections Commission for submitting membership forms with fingerprints that do not belong to the owners of the forms.
Elections Commission said in a statement today that both parties had violated Article 48 (a) of the Political Parties Act, and been fined MVR 5,000.
Earlier, in January 2014, Elections Commission fined Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) MVR 5,000 for submitting a membership form on behalf of a dead person; and in December 2013, the commission fined Jumhooree Party (JP) MVR 12,000 for submitting membership forms on behalf of two dead people.
