President Abdulla Yameen is set to visit Himmafushi, and Thulusdhoo of K. Atoll to mark the completion of the land reclamation in the islands.
The Himmafushi Council said that 21.6 hectares of land had been reclaimed island, and that the project had cost up to 130 million dollars. The reclamation had been carried out under contract by Van Oord Dredging Marine Contractor, a company from the Netherlands.
In Thulusdhoo, 33 hectares of land had been reclaimed. The President is set to meet the citizens of both islands in celebration of the project's completion.
