Ooredoo Fintech Launches Zero-Fee International Money Transfers via mFaisaa to Support Cyclone-Affected Communities

Ooredoo Fintech has announced a special humanitarian initiative offering zero-fee international money transfers through its mFaisaa platform to support communities impacted by the recent cyclone across the region. From 1–31 December 2025, customers can send money instantly and securely to Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand without any transfer charges.
The initiative aims to make financial support more accessible, affordable, and immediate for families and communities facing the aftermath of severe weather conditions. Using mFaisaa’s international money remittance (IMR) service—powered by MoneyGram—customers can transfer funds abroad within minutes directly from their mobile devices.
Key features of the service include:
• Zero transfer fees for selected cyclone-affected countries
• High transfer limits of up to USD 10,000 per day
• A fully digital process, with no paperwork or queues
• Real-time transaction tracking through the mFaisaa app
After adding funds to their mFaisaa wallet, customers simply enter the recipient’s details to complete the transaction digitally, receiving instant confirmation and full visibility on delivery status.
Commenting on the initiative, Ooredoo Maldives CEO & Managing Director Khalid Al-Hamadi highlighted the strong cultural and community ties between the Maldives and neighbouring countries affected by the cyclone. He emphasized that removing transfer fees and enabling fast, secure digital remittances will help families provide urgent assistance to loved ones during a critical time. “Our goal is to ensure that technology serves a meaningful purpose, connecting people, strengthening communities, and enabling urgent support when it matters most,” he said.
The initiative underscores Ooredoo’s broader commitment to using digital financial services to drive social impact, strengthen connectivity, and promote financial inclusivity across the region.
