MNDF advises caution over debris from a sunken vessel

The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has issued a warning to mariners to remain cautious following debris reported from a vessel that ran aground while traveling from Malé to Naifaru in Lhaviyani Atoll.
According to MNDF, parts of the vessel “Nasru’s” belongings were carried away after it partially sank. The debris is believed to be drifting east of the “Aligaa” lagoon.
Authorities have urged all vessels operating in nearby waters to exercise extra vigilance to ensure navigational safety.
The five crew members aboard Nasru were rescued without injury by the MNDF Coast Guard Harbour Craft and transported safely to Naifaru.
Seafarers have also been advised to monitor weather conditions closely, as maritime incidents have recently increased across the Maldives.
