The President’s Office, on Wednesday, has opened applications for National Integrity Commission (NIC) membership with the terms of four members, including the Commission’s president, is due to expire.
The deadline to submit applications has been set for 12:00pm on Sunday, September 7th.
According to the President’s Office, eligible candidates can submit the application form at the President’s Office between 8:30am and 12:00pm on all working days starting from today.
The application form is available for download on the President’s Office’s website.
NIC is comprised of five members. The tenure of four members is set to conclude in October. They are:
Qasim Abdul Kareem, president
Aishath Shiuna, vice president
Shuaib Abdul Rahman, member
Aminath Shadhiya, member
All four individuals were appointed to the Commission on October 26, 2020, during the former administration. The remaining member of the Commission, Insha Faisal, was appointed on December 16, 2024.
The tenure of a NIC member is five years.
The NIC is responsible for investigating unlawful acts by law enforcement agencies and law enforcement officers. It is responsible for investigating such unlawful acts where the commission of such act is suspected or if any party submits a complaint that such an act has or is being committed.
