Saudi Arabia donates 50 tonnes of dates to Maldives

In a continued demonstration of bilateral friendship and humanitarian support, the King Salman bin Abdulaziz Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) has donated 50 tonnes of dates to the Maldives.
The generous consignment was officially handed over to the Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Endowments in a special ceremony held at the Islamic Centre in Male’ on 16 April.
Saudi Arabia's Ambassador to the Maldives, Yahya Hassan Al-Qahtani, presented the donation on behalf of the Kingdom. The shipment was formally accepted by the Minister of Islamic Affairs and Endowments, Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, on behalf of the Maldivian government and its people.
Marking a significant tradition of goodwill, this year’s donation continues a programme of aid that has been ongoing for 22 consecutive years. The dates, a staple food item especially significant during the holy month of Ramadan, will be distributed to citizens across the nation.
Following the ceremony, Minister Dr Shaheem took to social media to acknowledge the longstanding partnership. He said that the annual donation is a profound reflection of the strong and enduring relationship between Saudi Arabia and the Maldives.
The Minister extended his sincere gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Saudi government, and the Saudi Embassy in Male’ for their unwavering assistance and solidarity, which strengthens the bonds of Islamic brotherhood between the two nations.
