India’s Republic Day commemorated in the Maldives in grand celebration

An event was held in Male’ last night to commemorate neighboring India’s Republic Day.
The event held at Social Centre on Monday night to commemorate India’s 77th Republic Day was attended by former presidents Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Mohamed Nasheed, senior officials from the incumbent administration, including cabinet ministers and diplomats from various nations based in the Maldives.

The event featured Indian cultural performances and a special exhibition commemorating the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Maldives and India.
Speaking at the event, Maldivian Foreign Minister Abdulla Khaleel praised India as a country that has consistently supported the Maldives, noting that this assistance has greatly benefited Maldivian citizens.
“Even at present, there are many Indian nationals in the Maldives, providing their services. Indian doctors, nurses and teachers showcase the love and respect they have for the Maldives,” he said.

Indian High Commissioner to the Maldives Shri G. Balasubramanian, who also spoke at the event, said the bilateral relations between India and the Maldives benefits both nations. Balasubramanian also highlighted progresses achieved by India and its various feats. 
He expressed hope that relations between both nations will reach new heights in the future.
