BML Introduces ATM Services in all Islands of Shaviyani Atoll

Bank of Maldives (BML) has introduced self-service ATM facilities in ten additional islands in Shaviyani Atoll as part of its ongoing efforts to establish accessible banking services in all Islands in Maldives through its "Mulhi Raajje ah BML ATM" programme.
BML CEO and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef noted that the initiative is focused on delivering solutions that meet the needs of customers in their own communities.
“We take great pride and satisfaction in delivering this project at an accelerated pace, with the introduction of ATM services in 37 islands within this year,” he said.
“By extending our reach to these islands, we’re making banking more accessible, allowing residents to access essential banking services without the need to travel to a branch.”
He also highlighted the usage of the Bank’s ATM network across the country.
“We’ve seen a significant increase of financial activity from customers outside Malé, with over USD 94 million deposited via our atoll based ATMs this year alone. This clearly reflects the vital role these services play in the lives of the communities we serve.”
This initiative is part of President Dr Muizzu’s broader strategy, launched in November 2024, to establish ATMs on all inhabited islands. The initiative is aimed at strengthening financial empowerment among the populace. The administration has set a target to introduce ATM services on all inhabited islands by the end of 2025.

In addition to Shaviyani Atoll, ATM services have now been introduced in all inhabited islands of six Atolls, including Haa Alifu, Dhaalu, Noonu, Meemu and Kaafu Atolls.
