22 countries now operate direct flights to the Maldives

The Tourism Ministry has announced that 22 countries now operate direct flights to the Maldives.
According to Tourism Ministry statistics, as of 15 January, 22 countries operate direct flights to the Maldives including Asian and European countries. This includes eight of the ten top source markets for Maldives tourism. The United States and Australia, despite ranking within the top ten, currently do not offer direct flights to the Maldives.
The top ten source markets are as follows:
Russia: 13,593 tourists
Italy: 10,955 tourists
UK: 8,500 tourists
China: 7,894 tourists
Germany: 6,183 tourists
India: 4,550 tourists
United States: 3,177 tourists
France: 3,087 tourists
Kazakstan: 2,052 tourists
Australia: 1,918 tourists
As of 15 January, 97,044 tourists have visited the Maldives. This is a 7.9 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
