STELCO to deploy 350 staff to complete meter reading in one day

STELCO will deploy 350 employees tomorrow to complete electricity meter readings across the Male' area in a single day.
STELCO General Manager Mohamed Saleem in a press conference said that the next reading will be conducted on March 30, after Ramadan.
The company aims to streamline billing by ensuring that households receive a single bill for the month, avoiding discrepancies that previously led to discounts on two month bills.
Previously, STELCO's billing cycle had a 12-day difference, causing overlaps. To prevent such issues, readings will be taken tomorrow and again on the last day of Ramadan to generate a separate monthly bill.
Discounts on electricity bills will be based on the past 12 months consumption, with reductions applied to any increase in usage.
STELCO has urged the public to cooperate with meter readers and advised those who will be away for extended periods to inform the company to arrange an alternative time for the reading.
