Northern Utilities threatens to cut off electricity for government buildings in Kudarikilu

Northern Utilities has threatened to cut off electricity for some government buildings in Kudarikilu because of failure to pay the bills for the last month.
Speaking to Sun today, Kudarikilu Council President Asif Moosa said that the warning was communicate last Thursday. He said that the Utilities Company had given notice of electricity cut-off from the island mosque, Council Office and street lamps.
Asif said that the Council had repeatedly requested the Province Office to pay the bills, and the notice given by the Utilities Company had also been sent to the Province Office.
“We do not have budget to pay electricity bills, and it is done through the Province Office. We have already sent the bills to the Province Office, and they are supposed pay the money to the Utilities Company”, said Asif.
As it is a holiday, Sun has not been able to contact the Northern Utilities Office for a comment on the issue.
