Former President of Human Rights Commission of Maldives (HRCM)، Mariyam Azra has been appointed as the state minister for Ministry of Law and Gender.
Sources say that Azra was appointed for this position a few days back. Including Azra، there are a total of four state ministers in Gender Ministry، namely Haalaa Hameed، Fathmath Sheereen and Aminath Athifa.
Azra was appointed as the President of HRCM in 2010 and her term ended this month. Her name was nominated to renew for a second term as President of HRCM، however، was not passed by the parliament.
