Drug usage is not a disease, it is a crime: Home Minister

Home Minister Umar Naseer has stated that drug usage and dependence was not a disease but rather a crime and a sin.
He made the statement in his speech in connection to the international day against drugs.
Minister Umar stated that all can have a good life without drugs and that it required faith.
“Not losing faith in God’s mercy, even in trying times. If one is thankful for God’s mercy in times of trials, then that person can live a drug free life. This is what we have to adhere to,” Minister Umar said.
Minister Umar said that the motto for the day is “independence and stability, without drugs” and added that this motto did pose a lot of room for thought. Umar also said that all are capable of leading a fulfilling, productive life with no drugs and that this was linked to faith, hopes, dreams and aspirations.
“We have to accept that we all have a responsibility in the society. We have a culture of laying out blame, when speaking on how to improve the society. The first blame lies with us. If we are responsible, then would there be any crime in the society?” Minister questioned.
Minister Umar said that we have to reflect on the present situation of the country given the widespread nature of the issue.
