Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives Mr.Wang Fukang have said that China is ready help Maldives in combating drugs.
Speaking to Miadhu, the ambassador said that illegal drug use is a big problem in many countries.
He said that a nation can attain economic development when it is free from drug abuse. He described drug dealers as “enemies of the society” and said that substance abuse makes the young workforce lazy, leading to a substantial decrease in productivity of the nation.
He said that, measures need to be taken to prevent drug being smuggled into the country and that is the only way to stop the wide spread drug use in the country.
The ambassador said that China takes strict measures against drug abusers and smugglers, but still a small portion of the population are still using drugs.
He said that a country cannot progress unless all the youth of the country can contribute to the workforce in someway.
The ambassador also assured that China will help Maldives in becoming a self sustainable country.
