The Criminal Court has on Sunday extended the detention period of the detained MDP Chaiperson Ali Waheed by 7 days.
Ali Waheed was arrested following the opposition’s mass protest، “Mayday Protest”، on May 1، and was remanded in 15 days police detention. The initial remand period ends tonight.
Though the case was appealed in High Court، the court had backed Criminal Court’s decision to keep Imran in police detention. However، High Court had released JP Deputy Leader Ameen Ibrahim، who was also detained along with Ali Waheed and Imran Abdulla following Mayday protest.
Meanwhile، the Criminal Court extended Imran’s detention by 10 days، changed 22 individuals to home detention، extended another detainee’s detention period by 7 days، and released two detainees of the Mayday protest.
