Quality control in Addu City fish concerns all

Many citizens of Addu City have expressed their concerns over lack of health and qaulity standards in fresh fish sold in the city.
Speaking to Miadhu, individuals stated that fish is sold in iceboxes and that it takes a while to completely sell all of it. They said this was not an issue, but the lack of supervision of it was an issue.
'Issues occur without warning. I'm concerned if we eat bad fish and get harmed. There is no checking. If we can't check then how can we determine the quality,'
Some fishermen say they change the ice everyday and try to keep up the quality of the fish.
Most of the fish is sold from fish carts, stored in iceboxes. The fishermen said they didn't want to use the market, as they had to pay high prices to rent out stalls, adding that they didn't make that much.
Forming a fishermen's cooperative to make the best use of stall will benefit them.
