MIB introduces easy Zakat donation services for all customers

Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB) has introduced four specific services for all its registered customers to provide Zakat donations – monetary based.
At a press conference held at the Bank today، MIB’s Deputy Manager، Channel Management – Banking Operations، Mohamed Ziyau Ahmed stated that customers will have four specific services or features through they can deposit money for Zakat donations.
The newly established services include direct money transfer for Zakat at Maldives Islamic Bank، and using the point-of-sales (POS) machines installed at Islamic Ministry as well as the ATMs at various locations.
Customers can also use the bank’s internet banking service (F’isa Net) for Zakat. “Customers can use the ATMs at Malé and Addu for Zakat، ATM’s screen will show the new Zakat feature function، and the screen will have ‘pop-ups’ of Islamic Ministry’s Zakat rates for the year” said Ziyau.
In addition to this، MIB customers will not be able to access and withdraw MVR 10،000 through their MIB-cash cards – F’isa Card. Customers were previously able to withdraw a maximum of MVR 5000 per day from ATMs.
The maximum number of money withdrawn through the bank per day، per customer is MVR 20،000. The amount has remained unchanged even with the new ATM-money withdrawal policy changes.
MIB had also launched a third service for its customers، today. According to MIB، customers can now use F’isa Net service to transfer money to domestic as well as international bank accounts. Transfer rates from bank-to-bank remains unchanged.
