While there are people from other islands involved in the Fuvahmulah child prostitution case, two men and a minor believed to be involved has been arrested today.
With the three arrested today, the number of people arrested in the case has gone up to 16.
Police Media Official told Sun Media today that they arrested a 20-year-old, a 24-year-old man and a 17-year-old minor.
Police said that the 20-year-old man arrested today has been arrested previously and has a case pending against him at the Prosecutor General’s (PG) Office. He was previously arrested for theft and assault with a weapon.
The investigation has revealed that there are people from other islands involved in the case according to the Police.
Aside from the people arrested today, the others have had their remand extended by 15 days.
At the Police news conference held regarding the case, the Head Chief of the Crime Investigation Command, Superintendent Hamdhoon Rasheed said that neither of the girls involved in the case are pregnant.
Sources say that it has been going on for over a month. It is suspected that the prostitution ring is being run by the businessmen. These acts take place at a guesthouse on “Miskiy Magu” (Mosque Road); different people going on different nights.
