State witnesses testify in favour of Moosa Ali Jaleel

The four witnesses presented by the State to testify against the accused Major General Rtd. Moosa Ali Jaleel had all testified in favour of Jaleel stated they are not aware if he was involved to unlawfully detaining criminal court chief justice Abdulla Mohamed in 2012.
The four witnesses who testified during the court hearing today are MNDF Captain Ali Ihsan، Colonel Abdul Raheem Abdul Latheef، Medical Service Commander Dr. Ali Shahid Mohamed and Warrant Officer Aishath Zeena.
In addition to the aforementioned four witnesses، state also presented three other witnesses، who were unable to attend today’s hearing as they were out of town. The additional witnesses are، the then Commissioner of Police Ahmed Faseeh، the then Deputy CP Ismail Atheef and MNDF Officer Colonel Vice Waheed.
Captain Ali Ihsan، testifying for the state، said in court today that Moosa Ali Jaleel attended the joint meetings of MNDF and Police regarding the detaining of Judge Abdulla، however، since Ihsan himself did not attend the meetings، he does not know any details of it.
Furthermore، Ihsan stated that Moosa Ali Jaleel did not attend the meeting conducted by the then Home Minister Hassan Afeef، the then Defence Minister Tholhath Ibrahim Kileygefaanu، the then Male’ Area Commander Brigadier General Rtd. Ibrahim Mohamed Didi، Colonel Ziyad، held at Police regarding the detaining of Judge Abdulla.
Ihsan also stated he did present a letter from the Police to Moosa Ali Jaleel requesting to take a necessary step against Judge Abdulla. He said Jaleel did not make any comment after receiving the letter.
Testifying for the State، Colonel Abdul Raheem said he only learned the detaining of Judge Abdulla after he was taken to Girifushi. He further said that although the then Defence Minister Tholhath and former President Mohamed Nasheed conducted a meeting with the MNDF officers، he is not aware that Jaleel attended the said meeting.
In addition، Abdul Raheem said although Jaleel did not speak regarding detaining of a specific person، he spke regarding MNDF assisting the Police operations، in a meeting where the then Defence Minister Tholhath participated.
Dr. Shahid testified saying Jaleel did not give any orders for or regarding the detaining of Judge Abdulla. He further stated that although he went to Girifushi on 16 January 2012 for a medical purpose of an individual، he was not aware that it was for Judge Abdulla، until later.
Warrant Officer Zeena reiterated Dr. Shahid’s testimony – Jaleel did not give any orders to detain Judge Abdulla. She said she went to Girifushi on the order of the then Defence Minister Tholhath.
Concluding the hearing، presiding judge had stated they will be presenting the other witnesses to testify for the State.
