Defense Lawyers of former President Mohamed Nasheed، has brought the case of Criminal Court’s deliverance of Nasheed’s trial proceeding report being delayed، in to the notice of High Court.
In the letter presented to High Court by Nasheed’s defense lawyers، they wish to appeal the case of terrorism charges claimed against former President by the state government، as the prosecuted denies the charges set against him.
The lawyer team also highlighted the response from Criminal Court over their request to present the summary report of Nasheed’s trial، as the Court had answered them the duration to produce and deliver the summary reports takes 7 to 14 working days، however Nasheed’s lawyer team fears of losing the due to appeal the case to high court، since according to Supreme Court ruling the time limit for re-appeal is a 10 day period.
They have also stressed the decision of Criminal Court violates the regulations that had been circulated by Supreme Court regarding the deliverance of case summary reports.
It has been 4 days since Criminal Court delivered their verdict on former President Nasheed.
