Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj has stated that India is ready to assist the Maldivian Government in all of their endeavors, noting that full cooperation will be given to investigate the explosion aboard the Presidential speedboat.
She made the statement speaking in the meeting held with President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Qayyoom yesterday morning in President’s Office.
Minister Swaraj extended her condolences on the grave affair and said that she hoped that all those injured in the event will gain a speedy recovery. She enquired on how India can further assist in the investigative procedures.
Minister noted that a team of Indian experts had been dispatched at the time of the incident. She added that additional held will be made available at the Government’s request.
Minister Swaraj said that India has historically been a key development partner in the Maldives and assured that this support will be seen in the future as well.
Foreign Minister Dunya Maumoon, Minister at President’s Office Mohamed Hussain Shareef, Maldivian Ambassador to India Ahmed Mohamed and Foreign Secretary Dr. Ali Naseer took part in the meeting.
