International Yoga Day celebrated colorfully in Maldives

International Yoga Day has been celebrated colorfully in Maldives.
The successful event was kicked off at 8.30 am yesterday morning with a yoga session held in Social Center grounds.
Speaking at the event, Indian High Commissioner to the Maldives Rajiv Shahare stated that over 37,000 people had taken part in the day’s activities held in New Dehli. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had led the activities in the nation’s capital.
Nine main events were held in various areas of greater Male’ to celebrate the day. As such yoga sessions were carried out in Male’, Vilimale’ and Hulhumale’. Additionally, Police and MNDF had conducted their own yoga sessions as well.
The activities were concluded with a special closing ceremony held in Artificial Beach, with Foreign Minister Dunya Maumoon and Health Minister Irthisham Adam taking part as Chief Guests. They handed out awards for the winners of the talent contests carried out to mark the day.
Speaking in the ceremony Shahare stated that it was quite significant that activities were carried out in nine areas of greater Male’ and that the Day was a smashing success.
Delivering the note of thanks, Deputy High Commissioner Sanjay Rana thanked the Government for assistance in making the day a success. He especially noted the assistance given by Health Ministry and the Foreign Ministry. He also thanked the participants for their unending support for the day.
The closing ceremony concluded with a demonstration of yoga poses.
