MP for Villimale’ constituency Ahmed Nihaan Hussein Manik have said that the Presidential address to the parliament was shortest last year, but most number of developmental projects commenced and ended last year.
Speaking to Miadhu News, Nihaan said that President does not like to talk much and he is a man of action. He said that hence this year’s Presidential address might be very short as well and that he assures that the people will benefit from a record number of development projects this year as well.
“We have heard very long Presidential addresses to the parliament. By the end of the year not even 80 percent is completed. And again the same thing is included in the next year’s address and the budget. After sometime, the address and the budget disappears often. Parliament members always talk about this” said Nihaan.
Nihaan said that this government will not engage in gloating and giving false promises. “This government will talk about achievable things. We are delivering the pledges of this government” said Nihaan.
The government has proposed a record budget for 2017, which includes various developmental projects. This includes development of airports, water and sewerage system and it is also expected that the i-haven project will begin this year.
