Maldives Immigration reports 876 people attended the walk-in interview held on Saturday for 50 vacant Immigration Officer Trainee posts.
A walk-in interview is a type of job interview where candidates can appear directly at a designated location and time set by the employer, without needing to submit a prior application. Major employers in Maldives have previously held such type of interviews.

Immigration’s walk-in interview kicked off at 9:00am on Saturday at Galolhu School. Hundreds of people immediately queued up near the school for the interview. The queue was closed at 17;00pm in the evening.
Individuals who met the requirements under the first phase were identified and issued a token number for their interview, which can be tracked live from the school itself and Immigration’s website.
Speaking with Sun, Immigration’s media official said the interviews were first conducted by six panels in six classrooms and later expanded by three additional panels after checking individuals who met the requirements.
Prospective applicants were required to bring the completed job application, curriculum vitae, ID card copy and education certificates.

The basic salary for the post is MVR 6,500 alongside a service allowance of MVR 1,500. Upon completion of basic training, they will receive a special service allowance which 35 percent of their basic salary.
Immigration handles passport services and oversees entries and exits to and from the Maldives. The agency is also responsible for dealing with illegal migration.
According to 2023’s census, Maldives has a population of 515,132, of which the working population, accounting for individuals above 15, is 411,219. Three percent of them, accounting for 9,244, are unemployed.
