No Ramadan gifts for SOE employees, only allowances: PCB

Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) has issued a directive stating that employees of state-owned companies will only receive Ramadan allowances and no additional gifts in connection to Ramadan.
The circular states that each Muslim employee will receive a Ramadan allowance of MVR 3,000. It also clarifies that employees working in multiple jobs will receive the allowance from the company where they hold their primary position.
Employees on paid or unpaid leave for scholarships at the beginning of Ramadan will not be eligible for the full allowance unless they return to work during the month. In such cases, they will receive the allowance amount based on the remaining days of Ramadan.
Ministry of Finance has announced that the Ramadan allowance for government employees must be paid by February 20.
This year, Ramadan is expected to begin on March 1.
