Chairperson of the MDP, Ali Waheed has said that the electricity usage charges will be doubled by the government tomorrow if the people fail to stand up against injustice.
Speaking at the rally held at Kulhudhufushi, Ali Waheed said that the tyranny of the government has been growing and becoming more reckless. He said that the government will believe that they can do anything whenever they want if the people fail to make a stand.
Ali Waheed raised questions regarding why the government raised the electricity charges while not increasing the salaries.
Regarding the government oppression against their opponents, Ali Waheed has said that Gasim Ibrahim, the Jumhooree Party leader is also in an economic prison. He said that government is trying hard to cripple his businesses to destroy him.
“These five thieves hijacking the whole system is trying to destroy the future of Gasim Ibrahim. They are trying to cripple his businesses. I call President Yameen to stop this immediately,” he said.
