Deputy Speaker of the Peoples’ Majlis, Hulhuhenveiru constituency MP Moosa Manik has submitted a case at the appeals committee of MDP against the party’s decision to sack him.
In addition to making an appeal, Moosa Manik also sent a letter to the Chairperson of MDP, Ali Waheed.
In his letter to Ali Waheed, Moosa Manik said that the party’s decision to remove him cannot be accepted and the measure taken against him should be the same as the decision taken against other members who did not participate in the vote.
In the letter, Moosa stressed that the reformation of the judiciary is an important focus of MDP and the party PG group leaders and officials spoke about the issue of the amendment to the Judges Act differently at different occasions. However, he said that MDP issued the whip line without considering the welfare of the general members to achieve the motives of a particular people.
Moosa Manik said that the decision of MDP to remove him from the party was not even sent to the Elections Commission. However, he submitted the case at the Elections Commission to investigate the matter.
